World Cup Results 2010: USA vs Ghana

World Cup Results 2010: USA vs Ghana Score and the USA hit the same roadblock as they did four years ago. In a contest this close, it comes down to the one that wants it the most. Ghana was the lone defender of its continent for the games, and being the host nation, they were compelled to pull it out. This they did with a great contest from the Americans. Ghana scored in the first half of the World Cup Results 2010: USA vs Ghana Score. The USA was unable to get a goal in until the second half. And the knot stayed tied until the end of regulation. It would be unfair to say that either team in this match was outplayed, but the one holding the extra point at the end is the clear winner. The World Cup Results 2010: USA vs Ghana Score is a great victory for the African nation.

US Open 2010: Birdie or Bogey

US Open 2010:The PGA tour appears to be one big chip shot right now. Players, both famous and the relatively unknown are making birdies and bogeys almost at the same rate. Normally we look for players like Mickelson and Tiger to shine amongst the unknown players but right now, it really is anyone’s guess.

Pebble Beach is a great course for the US Open but with professionals labeling the greens as difficult. Without some rain, the greens will be dry and play really fast. The greens were being watered at night per the rules and competition guidelines. Mike Davis the senior director of the rules and competition for the US Golf Association indicated that the greens “should be relatively receptive for the first part of the day.”

Pebble Beach’s Par 3 seventh hole runs approximately 106 yards. The morning players are thought to have an advantage here since the winds are suppose to pick up this afternoon. The other popular Par 3 hole at the US Open is the seventeenth which plays a big 222 yards with the pin near the back edge of the green. Only time will tell if these holes help the players or hurt them.

HTC EVO 4G proves it can face the iPhone 4

HTC’s EVO 4G smartphone recently gained the title of Sprint’s best selling phone, after it broke the company’s record for the biggest number of mobile phones sold in only one day.

No official numbers were revealed , but according to Sprint’s officials, the EVO 4G’s launch event was a major success and a milestone for the company. The demand was so big that certain locations exhausted their inventories prematurely.

The success of HTC EVO 4G’s launch proves that the smartphone is a potential opponent on the market for Apple’s new iPhone 4, as both of them are being released in the same time frame.

The EVO 4G runs Android 2.1 and offers 4G speeds, almost ten times faster than a 3G system.

Giants Baseball Prospect: Buster Posey

San Francisco Giants Prospect: Buster Posey As baseball approaches the mid-way point, big stars get bigger and up and coming stars are about to get the chance of a lifetime. The first move could come if the Giants decide to move Buster Posey up. Sources basically indicate that Posey is headed up but to play first base, not catcher. So, even if he shows up in San Francisco as expected, fans will have to wait to see what position he takes on the field. The Giants first basemen, Aubrey Huff, has spent a great deal of time in left field lately. And Buster Posey has been seen playing first base for the Class AAA Fresno squad. While hanging out on first, Posey has managed to hit .349 with six homeruns. The Giants are struggling and could definitely use a jolt from a player like Posey.

Bret Michaels: Celebrity Apprentice Winner 2010

Even if you aren’t a fan of Celebrity Apprentice, it’s difficult to keep the hype surrounding Bret Michaels out of your mind. Basically, with all the illness surrounding him, most people felt he would get the sympathy vote. And, he did indeed win, whether it was due to sympathy or not is another story entirely. Holly Robinson Peete was the celebrity that was not hired. On Sunday night when Donald Trump made his decision between the two finalist, he didn’t necessarily fire Holly, instead he hired Bret. Even the Miss USA said that the Trump look that draws attention when he fires someone is obvious. Last night, that gleam didn’t necessarily show through. Both celebrities in the finals of this season of Celebrity Apprentice definitely won.

Both of the celebrities on this season of the show received funds for their charity of choice. Holly was fighting for autism and Michaels was heading up a group for diabetes. With that in mind, the two went head to head in creating a Snapple drink along with promotional material. The Celebrity Apprentice really just made both celebrities winners this season.

Stanley Cup Finals 2010 Schedule

The Stanley Cup Finals 2010 has the first team in place. The Chicago Blackhawks lost in the conference finals last year but are now in the Finals for the first time since 1992. The game of hockey in general totes a big stick. Players and fans alike tend to be rough and tough on and off the ice.

The Blackhawks won the Western Conference Finals with the fantastic play of Dustin Byfuglien. And now, taking on the winner of the Philadelphia/Montreal series is all that the Blackhawks have on their mind for the Stanley Cup Finals 2010. Just for the record, as the hockey finals tend to set a lot of records, while this is their first appearance since 1992, a win would be the first since 1961. And, with Marian Hossa playing in his third championship in three years with three teams, success is not guaranteed but records will be set.

Other big names to look for in the Stanley Cup Finals 2010 are Jonathan Toews and first year goaltender Antti Niemi. If Niemi can pull this off, he would be only the fourth rookie goalie to win a championship in 40 years. We’ve already determined that the game will be full of records, ifPhiladelphia can hang on, this would be a Phi-Chi finals series. As it stands right now, Hawks fans may find getting a ticket into the United Center to be excruciatingly difficult.

Fargo Marathon: Very Popular 2010 Fargo Marathon

Fargo Marathon: Very Popular 2010 Fargo Marathon The Fargo Marathon is essentially growing by leaps and bounds. It’s been six years since the first race and now, ten times as many runners are registered to give it a run. Friday’s 5-kilo run had about 6,500 runners and in 2005 the first Fargo Marathon only had 2,271. For now, 2,200 runners have signed up to run the full marathon. The marathon spouts a large number of runners along with the 6,500 who ran the half, 1,600 for the team relays, 2,800 for the 10K and the youth run even brought 2,400 runners. That’s a lot of children if you look at this from that stand point alone. Last year’s total was only 14,000. Just for the record, that’s a lot of runners beating the path for the Fargo Marathon in one way.

NBA Playoff Betting – Magic Look To Dig Themselves Out Of 0-2 Hole In Boston

NBA Playoff Betting – Magic Look To Dig Themselves Out Of 0-2 Hole In Boston NBA playoff online betting players have been stunned by Boston’s 2-0 lead over Orlando in the Eastern Conference finals, but the Magic have been good in Beantown recently, and they’ll need their best game of the season to avoid going down three games to none. Bet NBA: Celtics Magic – Saturday, May 22, 8:30 PM ET The Magic had a better game in a 95-92 loss in Game 2, but they still shot 39.4% from the field, and they were outrebounded 38-36. Dwight Howard had a game-high 30 points to go with eight rebounds, and the notoriously-poor foul shooter was 12-of-17 at the charity stripe, but it wasn’t enough to guide the Magic to a win. Vince Carter was just 5-of-15 from the floor for 16 points.

London 2012 Olympic Games mascots launched

The London Organising Committee of the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games unveiled its Olympic Mascot, Wenlock and Paralympic Mascot, Mandeville.

Wenlock and Mandeville were created from the last drops of steel left over from the construction of the final support girder for the Olympic Stadium. An animated film, based on a story by children’s author Michael Morpurgo, shows how the figures were brought to life and are able to reflect and adapt to their surroundings, changing their appearance depending on the situation. Wenlock and Mandeville will now go on separate journeys, often crossing paths and meeting people all over the UK inspiring them to choose sport as they head towards the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The mascots’ names reflect the UK’s rich Olympic and Paralympic histories. Wenlock’s name is inspired by the Shropshire village of Much Wenlock where the ‘Wenlock Games’ was one of the inspirations that led the founder of the modern Olympic movement Baron Pierre de Coubertin to create the Olympic Games. Mandeville’s name is inspired by Stoke Mandeville in Buckinghamshire. In the 1940s, Dr.Ludwig Guttmann came to Stoke Mandeville Hospital to set up a new spinal unit to help former soldiers suffering from spinal cord injuries. Looking for ways to inspire those in his care, he encouraged them to take up sport, leading to the formation of the Stoke Mandeville Games, widely recognised as a forerunner of the modern Paralympic movement.

Harvard Hoax: Adam Wheeler Harvard Scam

Harvard Hoax: Adam Wheeler Harvard Scam - A young resident of Delaware accused of inventing brilliant academic background which could enter Harvard University was held Tuesday on $ 5,000 bail after pleading not guilty.

If Adam Wheeler paid the bond, must stay away from Harvard and other academic institutions involved, surrender his passport and not leave the state of Massachusetts, told a judge in Middlesex.

Wheeler, 23, who lives in Milton, Delaware, faces 20 counts of theft, identity fraud and other charges.

Wheeler said he had obtained a perfect score on the SAT, the highest grades in the Phillips Andover Academy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology when he submitted his application to Harvard in 2007, prosecutors said. In fact, never attended any of these institutions, said Gerry Leone’s attorney general.

Prosecutor John Vener said Tuesday in court that in practice Wheeler stole $ 45,000 in financial aid, scholarships and awards funds from Harvard.

“The actions of this defendant swipe at those who competed honestly admissions and scholarships that this defendant fraudulently obtained,” he added. Adam Wheeler, who is studying English language and would have graduated from Harvard this spring, tried to go to Yale and Brown after being discovered at Harvard.

The defendant was a student at Bowdoin College in Maine from 2005 to 2007 but was suspended for academic dishonesty, authorities said.

Lebron James Mom Delonte West

Lebron James Mom Delonte West:The rumor mill circulates Lebron James mom Delonte West quickly although as of right now, the rumors are unsubstantiated. Regardless, the rumor has made the Cleveland Cavaliers appear to be more vulnerable than before. And, with their early exit of the playoffs, the Cavaliers are making a mess without the extra help. With talk of James being a free agent on July 1st, face time really isn’t an issue for James.Apparently the Lebron James mom Delonte West news hit the locker room before the Cavaliers game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. It seems a random conversation from a website has made the allegations. But, again, no one has managed to confirm any of this. The worst part is the fact that the Cavaliers were struggling prior to Game 5, this just exacerbated the problem.

Reports surrounding this horrible rumor along with James potentially heading to play for the Knicks has basically everyone’s knickers in a wad. If this is not a rumor and the Lebron James mom Delonte West story line plays out, the only questions are, is it any of our business what these two adults do and should James’ mother consider her son’s feelings before choosing a mate? And if this rumor is true, the relationship appears to be between two consenting adults and no one is questioning the general public about being involved in such relationships. Moreover, how many people actually enter into relationships by first considering what their children or teammates may say or feel?

NBA Betting: Suns vs. Lakers Odds

NBA Betting: Suns vs. Lakers Odds:The Western Conference finals kicks off tonight. The series between the Lakers and the Suns gets started at the Staples Center in a seven game series. If you are in search of information regarding the NBA Betting on the Suns vs Lakers odds, just keep in mind that the Lakers are favored to win the series against the Suns quite easily. The Suns defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semi-finals to earn a spot in the finals.
Right now, the biggest news other than the actual game surrounds Steve Nash’s ability to play with a cut on his eye that required six stitches. It’s difficult to imagine thatthe Suns will be able to do anything with the NBA defending champs if Nash is not 100% healthy. If you are looking for NBA Betting Suns vs. Lakers odds, this season the Lakers are 3 – 1 against the Suns and high scoring games favor the Suns. However, the Lakers just don’t go away that easily.

The Lakers with their superstar Kobe Bryant and the up and coming star Pau Gasol have been tormenting folks with their offense. Again, the Suns vs. Lakers odds are based on the scoring options and bench depth. Kobe is giving Nash props but chances are if the going gets rough, Nash may be toting another swollen eye from all the elbow tosses. The bestthe Suns can hope for is a cold Kobe and a hot Nash.

Expand the Deal

You may not be limited to the issues currently in play. Get your nose off the negotiating table and look around. Could the relationship between parties be expanded? What else do you have that they might want, and vice verse? Always be on the lookout for more stuff to trade.
Apply integrative bargaining (also called “interest-based bargaining” or “win-win bargaining”). It is a negotiation strategy in which parties collaborate to find a win-win solution to their dispute. This strategy focuses on developing mutually beneficial agreements based on the interests of the disputants. Interests include the needs, desires, concerns, and fears important to each side.

Be Ethical

Ethics is “A system of moral principles or values; the rules or standards governing the conduct of the members of a profession; accepted principles of right or wrong.” Ethics establishes the means of doing what is right, fair and honest. Why are ethics important in a negotiation?
Reputation plays a vital role in every negotiation. What are the ethical parameters of negotiation tactics? Can we lie? Can we deceive? Is there a difference? It’s much easier to achieve win-win outcomes when you have a reputation for being fair, honest and willing to do the right thing.

Admit Error

Is admitting error or omission a sign of weakness? False. Research shows that disclosing such information demonstrates honesty. In psychological terms, it breeds what is called “reciprocity.” If you do something for me, then I’ll do something for you. People are far more likely to be honest with you when you are honest with them.
Negotiation, at its best, consists of open, honest, and straightforward communication based on mutual respect and mutual trust.

Step Back

Don’t just keep talking. Take a conscious, purposeful step back into your presentation. One step forward; one step back; step together, and back again. This is the negotiati8on dance. You move together through the process, taking care not to step on each other. The dance is never confrontational or harsh, but smooth and in harmony.
You take a step back and try to postpone the discussion until you have more information. An example is postponing the salary discussion, at least until you have the information needed. By doing research ahead of time, you will feel confident knowing your worth. There is a point when the range, or your

Think Fast on Your Feet

One of the most popular causes of losing ground in a negotiation is lack of information. When you know the truth about something, you feel confident while discussing it. It shows in your way of talking, in a positive way that is guaranteed to impress the other party.
It is an important strategy to always have a back up plan. As they say, you should not put all your eggs in one basket. You should be asking yourself questions that start with how or what if? How can I sweeten the deal? How can I close the deal? What if the party likes this? What if they reject this? Try to come up with some alternatives that will help seal the deal.

Be Assertive

Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to say something, but didn’t, in order to avoid having a row? Or perhaps you got so angry that you had a violent outburst and regretted communication would have helped. Powerful people combine strength and sensitivity.
Lack of assertiveness can affect your relationships and quality of life, as you fail to communicate effectively and end up not getting what you want. Family life, career prospects and stress levels can all be affected by lack of assertiveness.

Build on trust

Trust is the basis for our drive to contribute.
Trust may develop naturally and gradually over time, but negotiators rarely have the luxury letting nature take its course. Thus it sometimes seems easiest to play it safe with cautious deals involving few tradeoffs, few concessions, and little information-sharing between parties. But avoiding risk can mean missing out on significant and better opportunities. For this reason, fostering trust is a critical skill for managers.
Remember that slipped commitments do not necessarily mean false commitments. Handle slippage by building trust. Rather than be accusatory, ask “what happened?” in a neutral fashion, and mean it. Listen carefully, correct collaboratively, and choose alternative resources when necessary.

Give and Take

It’s no secret than negotiating involves a lot of give and take. This includes the take and give of information. You’re revealing information about your needs and expectations while trying to gather information from the other side. The way that you give information can help foster goodwill and encourage the other side to reveal information that will help you reach the outcome that you want.
When we’re helping people learn how to negotiate better, we introduce the concept of the “nor, of reciprocity.” The rule reciprocation, which states that we should attempt to repay in kind what another person has given us, is the most compelling weapon of influence that humanity possesses. This is what makes us want to reciprocate when someone does something that’s helpful to us.

Be Human

Don’t try to be clever. In fact, don’t display cleverness. Talk softly and be pleasant. You’re trying to have the negotiator on the other table be on your side. People are more successful in closing negotiations when they are anchored on an existing and valued relationship. Share your troubles and problems if need be. You’re not trying to outsmart anyone here-you’re trying to obtain an amicable agreement with another person. This doesn’t mean you have to be good buddies with everyone you negotiate with. When she realizes she is not going against a ruthless opponent but rather someone who’s a real person, she’ll drop her guard and work with you.

Do Not Rush

Both parties need to feel comfortable with the pace and direction of negotiations. The other party might need time to consider more carefully the impact of conceding a certain point or option before moving on. You should respect this need, while still making sure to observe a flexible, but not open-ended timeframe for resolution.
Making decisions and solving problems takes much tie and energy. An example is that in the rush to complete a project, an individual or items often make hasty decisions, including decisions about which features will be included when the product is released.

Do Not Argue

Negotiating is about finding solutions. Arguing is about trying to prove the other person wrong. We know that when negotiating turns into each party trying to prove the other one wrong, no progress is made. Don’t waste time arguing. There is nothing more destructive to the negotiation process that the combative style. Professional negotiations try to preserve the relationship between the parties. The goal is not to reach an impasse in which neither buyer’s nor seller’s needs are met. The contract negotiation process usually begins with some degree of distrust between buyer and seller.

Re-Focus on the Issue

Maintain the relationship and try to resolve the issue (e.g.”What is a win-win answer for both of us?”). Summarize how far you’ve got. Review common grounds and agreements. Focus is on being partners, solving the problem. Intimidation is not the issue. Your deal is. No matter how abrasive your opponent is, you must restate exactly what was said to you without a nasty tone of voice. No matter how long it takes, keep bringing the discussion back to the real concerns: price, services, time periods and so on. Divide the issue into parts. Address a less difficult aspect when stuck. Invite trading (“If you will”). Explore best and worst alternatives to an acceptable agreement. At this point you may add “I apologize for the delay. I understand your frustration and anger. Can we put that aside and discuss settlement of our other issues?” (Refocus on real issues, legitimize the perspective of opponent.)

Use an Agent

The strategy or technique of using an agent or a mediator in negotiations should not be forgotten. Often it can be expedient to let someday else conduct your negotiation for you. It will be up to you to delegate the proper authority to your agent to ensure they can accomplish what you desire. Mediation uses a trained, impartial third party to help reach consensus on substantive issues among conflicting parties. Mediation takes a problem-solving approach rather than an adversarial one. While it can be desirable to have an agent for one’s own cause, it is best to avoid dealing with the adversary’s agent if possible.

Be Realistic

Aim high but be realistic. It is a fact that the higher you aim, the more you are likely to achieve. However, it is important not to get carried away. You are likely to lose your audience before you even start! Base you figure on what the market is offering someone of your experience, qualifications, and perceived value to the company.
87. You Can Say No
Women generally are more concerned about r4elationships; they tend to be more hesitant to say no. They want to keep everyone happy. Saying yes and then regretting it to unhappiness and stress at work.
In some work situations it could be damaging to your self-worth or even very dangerous to say ‘yes.’ Sometimes you will need to say no. Sometimes it is necessary to say no before you can get what you want.

. Ask for More

Once the other person’s given a figure, even if it’s much better than you expected, say something like “I think you’ll have to do better that that.” Don’t be arrogant or aggressive. Just say it calmly.
When they inquire about your expectations, ask for more that you expect to get. Ask for more than you are willing to accept- you can always settle for less. Few people will walk away from a deal once it’s commenced, and you can let the other expectations” a bit at a time.

Learn of Any Deadlines

Closely related to learning as much as possible about the other negotiating party is to understand the importance of time in a successful negotiation.
One of the crucial elements of real estate negotiation is time. Understand and master the use of time, and you can buy a home for thousands less. When you negotiate an offer to purchase a home, timing is important. The longer it takes to negotiate an offer, the more flexible a seller becomes. When a seller is more motivated, using time to your advantage will have a more significant impact on the negotiations. Alternatively, the longer it takes to negotiate an offer, the higher the chance that another buyer will make a better one. While it depends on the home seller’s situation, generally the longer a home is on the market, the more flexible a seller will be and the more impact negotiating time will have on them.

Defuse with Humor

Everyone has been angry and knows what anger is. Anger can vary from mild irritation ti intense fury, and can come from a variety of things (specific people, events, memories, or personal problems). Anger can come from perceives violations of rules. Rudeness can make a person feel vulnerable and exposed, which prompts anger. Feelings of shame may turn into anger. Anger can get out of control and become destructive and problematic.

Act Dumb

To skilled negotiators, acting smart is dumb. Actually acting dumb is brilliant. When you are negotiating, you’re better off pretending as if you know less that everybody else does, not more that they do. The dumber you act, the better off you are. Unless the other party is fully aware of all your credentials.
There is a good reason to act dumb in front of the other party. With a few exceptions, human beings tend to help people that they see as less intelligent or informed, rather than take advantage of them. Of course there are few people might take advantage of weak people. Generally people become competitive when among a smart group, or become helpful when dealing with people who they think are inferior to them. So, the main reason for acting dumb is to diffuse the competitive spirit of the other side.

Use a Decoy

Use a decoy while negotiating. It may be unethical negotiating tactic, but you should be aware that others do use it and you should be able to spot it when someone is using it on you. Unless you’re so familiar with it that you spot it right6 away, you’ll find that you will make unnecessary concessions just to get the other si9de to agree with your proposal.

Wait for the Second Offer

Seasoned negotiati9ons know that you should never say yes to the first offer (or counter-offer) because it automatically triggers two thoughts in hindsight in the other person’s mind: I could have done better or something must be wrong.
Never take the first offer. Even if the first offer is reasonable, don’t take it.
First, it makes you look overly eager, which gives the other side a greater sense of control. Don’t act too interested. Just giving the impression that you’re willing to walk away can do wonders for getting a better deal. Always play the reluctant buyer or seller.

Don’t be Afraid to walk away

Ask yourself, as a buyer, “What will happen if I don’t buy this home?” The world probably won’t end. Maybe you’ll find a home you like better at a lower price, a better location, even a bigger house. DO not be afraid to walk away. There’s always another home for sale, so be on the look-out for alternatives and options.
A mistakes people make in negotiation is buying into the belief that they have no power. “How can I negotiate against a big corporation? A big car company? A big car company? A big real estate agent? They have all the know-how. They have all the power.”

Never give up

Sometimes, negotiation doesn’t work in a particular company or for a particular job or particular person. Don’t stop doing it because you had a few bad experiences. Keep learning, practice harder, do your research, and be ready next time. People have always known that persistence and perseverance are4 key ingredients to success. Hence the old sayings “If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.”

Leave Your Ego

Negotiation is a process that deeply involves our ego and our emotions. Humans are creatures of ego and emotion, with different background, beliefs and values. It is therefore easy for misunderstanding and miscommunication to reinforce prejudice and lead to a vicious cycle of reaction. Leave your ego behind when negotiating.
Negotiations, due to their nature, create and foster strong negative emotions. We must be aware of the impact of emotion on our negotiating ability. Always keep in mind the objective issues that are involved. Do not let your emotions carry you away in such a manner that you undermine the entire process or sacrifice real issues in order to satisfy emotional needs.

Take Notes

Take notes. This is very important, particularly when the written agreement is presented for your approval. If something is missing or misrepresented, then it is far easier to refer to your notes and bring it to the attention of the other party.
Write down what they are saying. While taking notes, pause occasionally to read back to them what you have written. This makes you sure you are on track with your goals and needs, as well as theirs.

. Think before you speak

Asking questions the right way is both an art and a science. Ask the question the wrong way and a person might retreat and not answer, become defensive and withdraw from the conversation. Ask the question in another wrong way and a person might suddenly become defensive and attack you. Ask it the right way, and the person might ‘spill the beans’ and be comfortable with the discussion.
During a negotiation, we need to learn how to ask questions the right way to get vital information. We need to think about how to ask questions to get the other party to talk.

Ask Questions

You control a negotiation with questions, not by simply talking. The person who asks the most questions can control the content and direct of the negotiation. Asking questions is useful because questions generate answers while statements generate resistance. Questions are valuable because they pro duce information; questions give the negotiator control; and questions give the negotiator time to think and deprive the other person of thinking time. It is true that most people cannot answer a question and think about something else at the same time.

Practice the four F’s

The four Fs are Fell, Felt, Found, and Facts. When someone is wrong tell them: “A lot of people feel like you do right now. In fact, I felt that way myself until I found out the following …” (then share the information you found that caused you to change your mind). This is a nice way for someone to change his or her mind without losing face.

. Secure Concessions

Never give away a concession without getting something in return. Buyers tend to resist giving any concessions at all.
This is a matter of discipline and control. It’s simple. Never give anything away without getting in return. If you do you are not negotiating, you are simply conceding.
A commitment from the other person can be a suitable concession to get in return for something of relatively low value. The simplest concession to secure is the agreement to proceed with deal now, and use it to close the deal.

List Their Requirements

The secret is to try and establish what is on the other party’s agenda and in what order. In other words, establish what is most important for them. Be prepared and draw up an outline of what the other party may need most, including personal and emotional aspects. Put a value on each item on your list.
Everything that is part of or related to a deal has a value. Everything is valuable to you or your organization, even if it’s not on the price list. When negotiating, try to look beyond the request and demands of the other party and attempt to understand their real intentions and motives. Seek to meet this dominant, often hidden need, and you are well on the way to winning the negotiation.

Cleveland Newspaper

Cleveland Newspaper: King James The owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers is also a business man with multiple other businesses under his control. Unfortunately for various members of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the wrath of Dan Gilbert may be more than they bargained for. A Cleveland Newspaper reports that even though the Cavaliers won more games in the NBA regular season than anyone, their post-season play has been more than a bit upsetting. So upsetting that free agent Lebron James may be more upset when he is a free agent than he was by the crowd booing his lackluster performance. Gilbert told the Cleveland Newspaper that the last two losses in the playoffs have him looking for answers in many areas.

Shawn Johnson: Olympics 2012

Shawn Johnson: Olympics 2012 Shawn Johnson has a Gold Medal. Moreover, she has three silver medals. But, to say that her baseball skills are lacking is quite the understatement. But, then again, when did we start expecting people to do cartwheels on a balance beam and throw 95 mile hour fast balls at the same time? All that seems a bit far fetched but Shawn Johnson is about to attempt just such a feat. No, she won’t be trying to throw fastballs and do cartwheels at the same time, she can’t even get her pitch to the plate; but she will be attempting to make the 2012 Olympic team mere months after undergoing ACL surgery. Shawn spent weeks on crutches and had basically managed to keep her plans to herself.

David Eger shot a 3-under 69 in rainy, windy conditions Sunday to win his first Champions Tour event since 2005 at the inaugural Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.

A 3-foot putt on the 16th hole gave Eger a two-shot lead shortly after Tommy Armour III had three-putted from 60 feet to bogey the par-3 17th hole. That allowed Eger, who finished at 11 under, to hold on for a one-shot victory despite a bogey on the par-4 18th.

``It's been a long time coming,'' Eger said after accepting the $240,000 winner's check, his first in 118 events. ``A year or two go by after your previous win, you don't know - as the birthdays continue to fly by - if you're ever going to do this again.''

Armour, who won twice on the PGA Tour in 1990 and 2003, lamented some putting woes that likely cost him his first Champions Tour triumph.

``The greens are a little tricky. The putts move around the hole,'' Armour said. ``Tom Watson told me a long time ago, 'Even great putters miss putts.' You know, in 54 holes, you're going to miss a putt.''

Tiger Woods’ mistress Joslyn James demanded an apology

Tiger Woods’ mistress Joslyn James demanded an apology and investigation by a North Carolina Ritz Carlton hotel into what she alleged was discrimination and maltreatment, TMZ.com reported Monday.ames, the stripper who previously branded Woods “a big, fat liar” and claimed he impregnated her twice, said the swanky Charlotte, N.C., hotel canceled her reservation at the last minute because the scandal-ridden golfer was staying there at the same time.

Papers filed by James’ attorney Gloria Allred said, "... we are appalled to think that you might have chosen to accommodate a rich, famous golfer who has admitted lying to his wife ... over a woman whose heart he has broken ..."

Woods was in the area for the Quail Hollow Championship, while James was in the area for a performance at local strip club the Uptown Cabaret. She arrived at the Ritz “after a long and tiring journey from Los Angeles” to discover her booking was thrown out.

Ishikawa sets Japan Tour record with round of 58

The 18-year-old Ishikawa tapped in for par on the par-4 18th after his 15-foot birdie try slid inches by the cup. He had 12 birdies in his bogey-free round on the 6,545-yard Nagoya Golf Club course.I always dreamed of getting a score like this but didn't think I would do it so fast,'' Ishikawa said. ``It hasn't really sunk in yet, but I'm sure it will after a few days.''

After opening with rounds of 68, 70 and 71 to fall six strokes behind third-round leader Shigeki Maruyama, Ishikawa birdied nine of the first 11 holes Sunday. He added birdies on Nos. 14-16 and closed with two pars to finish at 13-under 267, five strokes ahead of Hiroyuki Fujita and Australia's Paul Sheehan.

``I got off to a good start for the first time in four rounds, so I told myself not to give up for the title until the end,'' Ishikawa said. ``To my surprise, I found myself making this many birdies. I was in a calm mental state for all 58 strokes.''

Tiger Woods: Golf Update

Tiger Woods used to say that he was driven to work hard because he understood the day would come when a player would arrive to take what was his.
In telling the story a few years ago, he even nominated that golfer’s age as 12.Turns out Woods may not have had as much time as he thought.

Maybe the kid’s just three days short of his 21st birthday?
Or maybe he’s 19 and lives in Japan? The spiritual symmetry of this weekend in golf was inescapable.Woods, his private life and golf game both in disarray, missed the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship. On Sunday, Rory McIlroy roared like a young Tiger, obliterating the course record at one of the most exacting tests in golf with a breathtaking 10-under round of 62.Unlike many tour pros happy to cash a check, this kid never looked like he was playing for second place prize money as he won his first title in the United States and only the second of his young career.

Iron man 2

The five-time All-Star posted two messages to his almost 96,000 followers Friday night, ending a week of silence with a post that read: "Been wanting to ask. Where should I go next season and why?''

About an hour later, Bosh posted a second message that read: "Ok... Let me rephrase the question. Should I stay or should I go?''

Bosh is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Toronto Raptors, leaving more than $17 million on the table, in order to join a free agent class that could also include LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Amare Stoudemire.

The seven-year veteran averaged career-highs with 24 points and 10.8 rebounds this year.

Hours before receiving his second straight MVP award, LeBron James scored 35 points and Mo Williams added 20 as the Cleveland Cavaliers, outplayed for most of the game, stormed back to beat the Boston Celtics 101-93 on Saturday night in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. James, playing with a sprained and bruised right elbow, delivered yet another memorable performance as the Cavs withstood a furious punch from the Celtics, who led by 11 in the third and seem intent on making this a long series.

James, who also had seven rebounds and seven assists, drained a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left to put Boston away.

Rajon Rondo had 27 points and 12 assists and Kevin Garnett finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics, who were held to 15 points in the fourth quarter.

Nuggets coach George Karl has another blood clot in his right leg as he recovers from radiation and chemotherapy treatment for throat and neck cancer.

Karl's partner, Kim Van Deraa, wrote on her blog this weekend that the 58-year-old coach was rushed to the hospital Friday afternoon with the clot. She said doctors were trying to determine the cause because Karl already is on blood-thinning medication.

Van Deraa also writes that doctors reinserted a filter into his abdomen. The filter had been removed two weeks ago.

The filter prevents the clots from traveling to his heart or lungs. It initially was inserted in March when Karl was first treated for blood clots.

Van Deraa and Karl, who are raising their 5-year-old daughter, Kaci, together, had been writing increasingly upbeat blog posts about Karl's slow recovery from squamous cell carcinoma.

But the latest post said Karl mentioned his right big toe was hurting Friday and that it felt swollen, so Van Deraa called Karl's doctor, who set up an ultrasound.

Scanning an audience which came to celebrate his second straight runaway NBA MVP award, James pointed out his former high school coaches and best friends. He praised his mom, Gloria, who somehow raised him after giving birth when she was just 16. He had a special message for his girlfriend, Savannah, and their two young sons, LeBron Jr. and Bryce.

James thanked them all, and then singled out one special group.

"I'm sorry," he said Sunday, halting the ceremony at the University of Akron's James A. Rhodes Arena. "But all my teammates, you have to come up here with me, man."

He was soon surrounded on the podium by Shaquille O'Neal, Mo Williams, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team he led to 61 wins during the regular season and is determined to take all the way to an NBA championship.

After keeping their season alive with a gutty win in Milwaukee, the Hawks made sure the Bucks were in no position to duplicate their improbable Game 5 upset. Jamal Crawford scored 22 points, Al Horford put up a double-double and Atlanta pulled away for a 95-74 win Sunday that gave the Hawks a 4-3 triumph in the tougher-than-expected series.

It was the only series to go the distance in the opening round.

The third-seeded Hawks advanced to face No. 2 Orlando in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Magic, who have been resting since wrapping up a sweep of Charlotte last Monday, will host the first two games of the series beginning Tuesday night

Utah's poor luck continues in Los Angeles

Utah's poor luck continues in Los Angeles:By halftime, there was an air of inevitability. It wasn’t just the game, the first of the Western Conference semifinals, but the series itself already seemed like a fait accompli. For those of you requiring a translator, that’s French for “waste of time.”

Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley held more suspense than this ABC rerun. Not that Sunday’s episode began as a blowout. Hell, it wasn’t even a bad first half, not with Deron Williams – probably the best point guard in basketball now – picking himself off the floor after an early collision and going off for 17. Indeed, after two quarters, the differential between Utah and Los Angeles was a mere eight points and five rebounds.

But it sure didn’t feel like a playoff game. So you wonder: when does May feel like February? When the Lakers are hosting the Jazz.

The last time Utah got a game here was Jan. 1, 2006. Williams was a rookie thrown in against the inestimable Smush Parker, who started along with Luke Walton, Brian Cook, Chris Mihm and Lamar Odom. That’s right, no Kobe Bryant.

In order to create passive income, you need to automate your "income mechanism." This means you need to set up systems that run on auto-pilot to generate income for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An example of this would be Real Estate (i.e. rental
properties), Royalties from intellectual property you own (i.e. books or songs) and Business Systems. Business systems are the most readily available for most of us. And if you set them up online, they are extremely easy to automate using software and computers. And the easiest business system of all to set up is an affiliate marketing system.

• What’s the worst imaginable thing that could occur?
What could go well?
• What pleasant surprises might deliver?
• What is the best thing that could happen?

Brainstorm

Often the best place to generate ideas is within your company. Innovation does not have to be about revolutionary. It could simply be improving on existing products, services or processes. It could be one simple alteration that could reap any benefits. Brainstorming is used for decision-making to empower employees, those who are on-the-job, live and breathe the process and products. Brainstorming gives management a bigger picture of the business and makes the most of ideas and opportunities.
It could be used to answer question on strategic planning for the future. The results from brainstorming can provide information for subsequent key decision-making on such questions as: Where are now? Where are we going? How do we get there?
Brainstorming is usually done by group and involves the recording of all ideas regarding a particular problem, among others, such as the following:
•    The recording of all ideas without judgment
•    No critical comments allowed
•    Do not ake any decisions about the ideas or how to take the forward until a later session
•    Outlandish ideas are welcome
•    Impossible and unthinkable ideas are fine
•    Think outside the boundaries of the ordinary
•    Build on ideas of others
•    Quantity of ideas is important
A basic rule of brainstorming is to build on ideas already suggested. The following checklist can help transform an existing idea into a new one:
•    Put to other uses? As it is? What if modified?
•    Adapt? Is there anything else like this? What does this tell you? Is the past comparable?
•    Modify? Give it a new angle? Alter the color, sound, meaning, motion, and shape?
•    Magnify? Can anything be added, such as tie, frequency, height, length, strength? Can it be duplicated, multiplied or exaggerated?
•    Minimize? Can anything else be taken away? Made smaller? Lowered? Shortened?
•    Lightened? Omitted? Broken up?
•    Substitute? Different ingredients used? Other materials? Other processes? Other placesw? Other approaches? Other tone of voice? Someone else?
•    Rearrange? Swap components? Alter the pattern, sequence or layout? Change the pace or schedule?
•    Reverse? Try the opposite? Backwards? Change shoes? Turn tables?
•    Cobine? A blend? An ensemble?

Do Not Criticize

Questions that begin with the worlds why and who are very threatening. They suggest placing blame on someone. Questions like the following immediately provoke a defends mechanism, Why did these happen, who were there, who was working that day, why are you late, why is this not done, why is their an error in this report, why weren’t you able to finest? Restate questions that start with what and how. Initiate root cause analysis and understanding of the issue in a none threatening way to gather information. Employ positive connotation in investigative questioning, rather that up front assumption of blame. Ask questions such as how did these occur, how can we improve on you performance, what cause these to happen every time the equipments run, what were the reasons for the delay? It is important to learn how to give and accept criticism. Those who take criticism negatively become defensive, even lash out at people. As a result people feel discourage, and may refrain from contributing opinions again. Taking criticism positively creates room  for improvement and continuous learning, to do better in the future. Sharing feedback among one another allows a broader perspective. You uncover blind spots that you may not have seen. An impartial observers’ point of view can you work on improving skills, processes, attitudes, efficiency and productivity, especially if there is a positive reciprocity regarding constructive criticisms.

Resist Groupthink

The stronger the culture, the greater the risk of groupthink. Groupthink is when members strive for unanimity, and do not challenge organization thinking. There is too much reliance on one powerful figure, and the group is the base of their identity. It happens all the time that to avoid conflict in the group, one does not speak up to realistically appraise alternative solutions. Cliques are normal, reminiscent to lunch or meetings not asked to participate. The work environment turns stressful due to tension-filled dialogues if you disagree.
Group cohesiveness can also be shown when everyone agrees to disagree against management. If a threat fro management is felt, a group can stick together to prevent layoffs. This situation backfires on the true intent of teaming, since the group only has one agenda, with the rest left in the back burner. There is collective rationalization that nothing can escape the sanctity and safe haven the group provides.
One way to unblock group cohesiveness is to have anonymous brainstorming. Each idea is written on a piece of paper, without attribution to any names.

Do not Fear the Status Quo

Examples of status quo thinking are: hanging on to familiar programs, situations, services, staff positions, bureaucy, and established procedures. Common expressions are: “We’ve always done it this way; let’s stick with what works; if it isn’t broke why fix it; that’s not my job description; nobody asked you to do this; sticks with you know.” In big companies, typically there is a hierarchical and clearly defined organizational structure. People have strictly delegated authority, position and score. Upper management involves only a few, and the control of the organization rests on these few. They make all the decisions. There is a strong culture of bureaucracy, a heavy reliance on upper management, sometimes even just a single powerful figure in the organization t follow, and who directs all actions. Management at also fear change, which implies additional cost and workload, stress, altered priorities; considerably ore tie effort, and bigger responsibility.
Red tape and bureaucracy are common in government offices where there should be strict adherence to policies, procedures, the law, job accountabilities and responsibilities.

Be Open Minded

Old habits are hard to break. Patterns, the way of being things for long, become so deeply establish that they become an instinctive response. However, it’s a response based only on partial information. We need to be open-minded, avoid being rigid and stubborn, and not allow a firm mindset to cloud our judgment. Instead, we should try to understand other viewpoints, expand on others’ ideas, get out of out own box and have fun. It would then be like be learning something new everyday!

Do not Fear Failure

Fear of authority, reprisal blame, confrontation, rejection, failure. There are managers who only want to hear the good news; they get upset when there’s a problem or bad news. You become afraid to comfort him, paralyzed from communicating problems and even suggestions on how to solve them. You think your boss might perceive this is an unmet expectation, and that you will be appraised as incompetent to do your job independently. You tend to follow rules and not deviate from any process or standards, so that you don’t get reprimanded.
When people have a lot of fear in the workplace, all this becomes bottled up inside; sooner of later there will be a blow-up, a confrontation. It is hard to be suspicious of everyone all the time, to worry constantly about peers talking behind your back, to be blaming others, sneaking around and defending yourself against perceptions. It becomes a big hindrance to productivity, efficiency and creativity when your thoughts are focused on these fears.

Evaluate Possible Alternatives

What are the pros and cons of each choice? How does the choice fit in with the organization’s priorities, goals, mission, budget and time constraints? Is it realistic? It is feasible? You can also ask, “What is the best that could happen if this is the choice that we make? What is the worst that could happen? “Would it that we ake? What is the worst that could happen? “Would it be satisfying, or irritating? Would it please the management, the employees, and the customers? Can you live with it, or will there be disadvantages? Ake sure you ask all the questions and erase all doubts. There are many techniques to help you and the group evaluates all techniques to help you and the groups evaluate all the alternatives for a solution.
Pareto Analysis- Finding the alternatives that will give the best benefit, based on the 80-20 rule.
Paired Comparison Analysis- Assign percentage of importance to all alternatives, and select the highest percentage as determined by the group. Decision Trees- Start with a decision and project many outcomes. Assign a value or score, probability and benefit of each outcome. Choose the most feasible option.
PMI- Plus/Minus, weighting the pros and cons of each alternative Force Field Analysis - List all the forces for and against the decision. This helps you weigh the importance and decide if it is worth implementing or selecting the alternative. Six Thinking Hats - Look at the problem with six different perspectives: according to facts, intuition or gut feeling, being cautious and defensive, optimistic, creativity, and through process control.
Cost-Benefit Analysis – Assign $$ for cost and benefit with a playback period. This will help you determine when costs are recovered over tie through its benefits.
